If you ask us, the Christmas holiday season begins on November 1st and goes all the way through January 6th (we like to believe Thanksgiving is for that one day, really). Sign us up—we’re in, and our decorating starts super early (as soon as November begins).
And, to have you covered, we’ve put together the top interior decorating tips for Christmas 2025 early this year! So, join the bandwagon and let’s put the magical vibe together ✨
How to Choose the Right Decorations
The answer to this question would vary year after year. For 2024, we’ve included the top recommendations below.
Embrace Metallics
Metal maximalists—2024 is your year. Christmas 2024 is all about sparkle. We’re seeing plenty of iridescent decorations; retro lametta is having a surprising comeback, and there’s glitter and tinsel everywhere.
Disco Elements
It’s about time you get your disco groove on, the 70s-disco style way. You can add disco balls wherever you want: from the ceiling, atop the sideboard, even as wreaths.
Woodland Themes
Keeping up with eco considerations, our effort to reduce plastic decor has introduced natural materials to the fore. We’re talking ornaments in felt and straw; rattan tree collars; paper snowflakes that look like faux wood; it keeps getting better!
Latest Color Trends
In 2024, we’re seeing pink as a standout color in Christmas decor. We especially vouch for this color because it adds playfulness and warmth at the same time. Blush ornaments and rose gold florals both serve the purpose. Amidst pink—a little jewel tones (ruby, sapphire, etc.) don’t hurt 😉
Creating a Festive Atmosphere in Different Rooms of the Home
If you’re in for a quick spruce up of different rooms in your home, we’ve got the most essential seasonal decor ideas you can use for a guaranteed Christmas vibe! Remember, they’re as customizable as you want to make them.
Living Room
- Position a Christmas tree and let it make the focal point. And, if you’re short on space, why not consider an upside-down Christmas tree? (They’re really a thing, and our favorite thing about them is no more tripping over extended trees in compact corners of your living room).
- Decorate the garland. A lush boxwood garland paired with gold accents—such as elegant reindeer candlesticks—is one unique idea.
Dining Room
- Set a suuuper festive table. A themed table runner and holiday-inspired glassware can do the trick; you can find plenty of amazing options on Pottery Barn. For the centerpiece, an easy idea is using candles and pine branches.
- Attach festive bows to the back of the dining chairs.
Foyer
- No #1: A festive wreath on the front door.
- Add some ornaments and greenery on the console table.
- And don’t forget the holiday-themed doormat (Even a simple Welcome🦌 will do).
Bedroom
- Add an assortment of small wreaths above the bed.
- Switch up to festive bed linens (we love the collection by Pottery Barn—not sponsored!)
Kitchen
- Add some new holiday-themed towels and oven mitts. Williams Sonoma’s Peanuts towel set and Woodland Berry oven mitts are some of our favorites!!
- Display holiday-themed mugs, plates, etc. (if you purchase new ones, you’ll be investing in double duty!).
- Use a small bottle brush tree on the countertop. A bowl of seasonal fruits will also subtly achieve the purpose.

How to Integrate Seasonal Elements into Existing Decor
We love decking our homes with seasonal elements—but you may prefer otherwise. If you want to stick to your existing decor and factor in seasonal elements, we’ve got some handy tips for you.
For one, focus on the key areas. Spruce up your entryway; it’s going to set the tone as you welcome guests for the holidays. The mantel easily forms the focal point of the living room, so that’s another spot you want to deck with decor (here are some mantel vignettes you will love). Also, lots of guests means lots of dining. So, don’t forget to spruce the dining table with simple yet fun ideas.
Also, a quick trick is switching up those soft furnishings. Use throw pillows, curtains, blankets, etc., that reflect the holiday vibe. If you have a mirror installed, surround it with a wreath. Or add seasonal figurines to your bookshelf alongside your regular items.
And last but definitely not the least, seasonal scents. Candles don’t take up much space and fit right into your existing decor. And when they release those Christmassy scents, your space will instantly feel like the holiday season has arrived.
Final Words
Holiday decorating is one thing we look forward to year after year after year… and festive home design has never been more fun—especially with the 2024 ideas we shared in this post! 🎄 We’d like to reiterate, Christmas decor is much more than that traditional red and white 😉
