A new year, a new interior… Like the thought of it? With 2025 beginning in just a few weeks, now is the time to watch out for trends of the upcoming year. Some are innovative. Others, inspired by the yesteryear.
Our team at CRAFT By Anika has researched trends that will make your space stylish—all while anticipating your futuristic needs. And, with the insights we’ve collected, we’ll put together this blog post to show you what the upcoming year is bringing us 🤍
Sustainable Materials (Of Course)
Yep, even in 2025, sustainability remains at the forefront of interior design trends! We, as interior designers, are hoping to create beautiful interiors that are also kind to our planet.
Non-toxic materials are not just options, but essentials! Eco-friendly products are also making their way into homes. For homeowners, this comes with the added benefit of a lasting lifetime. Using reusable—and repurposable—items means that you won’t need to frequently replace things.
We have reclaimed wood, recycled glass, indoor plants…you know the drill. But if you’re looking for innovative design, 2025 does have some fun ideas in store:
- Mycelium Furniture. Mycelium is a biodegradable material grown from fungal spores. We love how Mycelium Muse introduces the concept of mycelium-based materials; you can see these in their desks and screens.
- Hempcrete Flooring. Hempitecture offers hempcrete—an eco-friendly material (made of fibers, lime, and water) used for building.
- Rugs made from Recycled Ocean Plastics. Plastics can kill in the oceans—but if they’re removed and repurposed, they can actually make for a beautiful addition to your home! Fab Habitat creates rugs from recycled plastic so you can play your part in saving our gilled friends.
Circular Economy Designs
Another trend—closely related to sustainability—is products that support a “circular” economy. This means materials remain in circulation (and do NOT end up in landfills). One of the most famous ways we recommend to adopt this trend is with repurposing.
- If you have an old cabinet, you can transform it into a mini-bar. South House Designs DIYs their own small cabinet as a bar; you can use a cabinet you already own and transform it, too.
- Use an interior door—preferably an antique one—and turn it into a headboard for your bed. We love the step-by-step guide by This Old House.
- If your little one has outgrown their crib (and is ready to do their homework at their desk), take that crib and repurpose it into a workstation for them.
Tech-Driven Interiors
How can we talk about the future of interior design without mentioning technology? As interior designers, we’re super excited to dive into whatever tech 2025 has to offer for homes. We’ve been keeping an eye out, and our most loved pieces are…
AI Powered Systems
Artificial Intelligence will be at the forefront of 2025’s smart home automation! Systems will now be able to adapt to your preferences. Lighting will begin to adjust to your mood. And HVAC systems will learn your temperature preferences and regulate your home’s environment accordingly.
Voice Assistants
You’re probably already familiar with Alexa. As tech is advancing, these systems are becoming more conversational and context-aware. They’ll be able to anticipate your needs and handle more complex tasks than you’d think!
Energy Efficiency
Again, AI is the key player here. Interior design forecast suggests that homes will increasingly use AI-driven energy management systems. These will monitor your energy consumption in real time. They will then adjust to off-peak hours for tasks, and will also be able to optimize your use of solar panels!
Our designs at CRAFT By Anika seamlessly integrate these technologies. So you can get the latest benefits without sacrificing visual appeal.
Multi-Use Spaces
2025 design trends are saying goodbye to single-use spaces—especially in the living room. We’ve been incorporating multi-use spaces in our interior design projects for quite some time, and we couldn’t help but grin when we saw them emerging in the future of interior design.
For one, you will see more desks, console tables, and reading nooks incorporated into living rooms. Breakfast banquettes are also making their way into open-plan living spaces. We love these ideas to create a nook that’s great for eating + storing away stuff.
That said, warmth and comfort are another one of the interior design trends on the rise. You have a multi-functional living room, but hand in hand with functionality goes comfort. This means furniture arrangements that encourage conversation. The furniture pieces should also be nice and comforting. Think oversized sofas and deep-seated chairs. Layering textures and patterns also make your space feel lived-in—adding that cozy, comfortable vibe.
Warm Color Palettes
In 2024, we were (pleasantly) surprised to see the color palette switch from cool to warm tones. And designers are anticipating this trend to continue into 2025. A shift in consumer preferences has been seen from sandy beiges—which have been popular for quite some time—to caramel and rich, chocolatey hues. These create a grounding ambiance that can anchor together spaces.
We were super happy with the 2025 interior design trends. Even more so, we look forward to adding them to your home. Connect with us—let’s plan that 2025 innovative home design together 🤝
